How to choose a bookcase

• Shelf load: each shelf has its own maximum load, often 10 to 30 kg depending on its width. The rating is per shelf, not for the whole bookcase.
• Height for children: a low bookcase lets children reach their own books. Our low white bookcase is 72 cm tall.
• Wall fixing: every bookcase should be fixed to the wall, especially in a child's room.

Common mistakes when choosing a bookcase

• Heavy books at the top: this makes the bookcase top-heavy. Keep heavy books low.
• Skipping the wall fixing: a bookcase that seems stable can tip when a child climbs it.
• Overloading one shelf: spread the books, and stay within the load per shelf.
