Toddler Beds
7 resultsOur toddler beds come as a house, a tipi or a fire truck, in white, red, blue or natural wood. All take a 70x140 mattress and are about 146 to 175 cm long, shorter than a standard single bed. Later on, the house and the tipi also come as bigger kids' beds.
How to choose a toddler bed
- Pick the right moment: most children move from the cot to a bed between 2 and 3½ years, sometimes as early as 18 months. Climbing out of the cot is a clear sign it is time.
- Low, or with a rail: a low bed or a guard rail helps if your child rolls out at night. Our police and race car beds are low, at 41 and 48 cm, and the fire truck bed has a guard rail.
- A mattress that fits: use a 70x140 mattress that fills the frame, so there are no gaps a child's arm or leg can slip into.
- Think about what comes next: a 70x140 bed suits a child up to about 120 cm tall. The house and tipi also come in 90x200, so your child can keep the same shape later.
Common mistakes when choosing a toddler bed
- Keeping a climber in the cot: once your toddler can climb out of the cot, move them to a bed. Climbing over the rail can end in a bad fall.
- Forgetting the rest of the room: a child who can leave the bed can also reach everything else. Fix wardrobes and dressers to the wall with anti-tip fittings.
- Forgetting the mattress: our toddler beds include a slatted base or a solid bed base, but not a 70x140 mattress. The Childhome tipi frame is the exception: it has no base.
