How to choose a mid sleeper bed

• Check the age: your model's manual gives its minimum age. For upper bunks and high beds, the safety standard EN 747 sets it at six.
• Height in between: a mid sleeper sits halfway between a normal bed and a loft bed, so it fits under most ceilings.
• Ladder or slide: the Mila has a ladder you can fit on either side. The Tess adds a slide, which needs free floor where it ends.
• Use the space underneath: the floor under the bed is free for play, boxes or a low dresser made to fit.

Common mistakes when choosing a mid sleeper bed

• A mattress that is too thick: it lowers the guard rail, so stay within the maximum thickness.
• Forgetting the slide: the slide takes a lot of extra floor across the room, so measure in both directions.
• Placing it under a hanging lamp: a child sitting up in bed can hit it. Check what hangs from the ceiling above the bed.

Does a mid sleeper fit a small bedroom?

Choose the Mila with a ladder, because the bed with a slide needs about twice the floor width. Fit the ladder on the side that keeps the door clear. Use the space underneath for storage, so you need less furniture elsewhere.

How high does the room need to be for a mid sleeper?

A standard ceiling of about 240 cm leaves a child plenty of room to sit up. Check a sloping ceiling or a hanging lamp above the bed.

Is there a mid sleeper with a slide?

Yes, the Tess has a slide next to its ladder, so it needs more floor than the bed with a ladder only.

Is a ladder included with a mid sleeper?

Yes. Both models come with a ladder and a slatted base.

Which mattress fits a mid sleeper?
