How to choose a bed base

• Size: a slatted base is slightly smaller than its mattress, so it drops into the frame.
• Slat gap: most mattress makers ask for gaps of no more than about 6 to 7 cm. Check your mattress warranty.
• Only single sizes: our bases are for single beds. Our 140x200 and 160x200 beds, and the complete toddler beds, already come with their own base.

Common mistakes when choosing a bed base

• Measuring the outside of the frame: the base sits inside, so measure the inside length and width.
• Ignoring the warranty: slat gaps wider than your mattress maker allows can void the warranty.
• Buying a base exactly the same size as the frame: it needs a little room to drop in. Choose the size of your mattress.

Dimensions and materials

• Width: 70 to 90 cm.
• Length: 190 or 200 cm.
• Height: about 6 cm.
• Fit: about 1 cm narrower than the mattress, so it sits inside the frame.
• Material: a wood-colour frame with plywood slats, delivered as a kit.

Caring for your bed base

Dust the frame and slats with a dry cloth. For a stain, use a slightly damp cloth and let the wood dry well.

Which size bed base do I need?

Order the base in your mattress size, from 70x190 to 90x200. The base itself is about 1 cm narrower, so it drops into the frame.

How do you put a slatted base in a bed frame?

Lay it inside the frame, on the side rails or supports. Check that the inside of the frame is at least as big as the base.

What height is a slatted base?

About 6 cm. Add that to your mattress thickness, and check the total against the frame.

How do you assemble a slatted base?

It comes as a flat-pack kit that you put together at home.

Which length of bed base do I need?
