Choose by where it stands

A chair is easier to pick from the room it lives in than from a catalogue.

• At the table : dining chairs, chosen mainly on upholstery.

• At a desk : adjustable height and castors, sized for a child or an adult.

• At an island or bar : a 78 cm seat height, which suits a standard bar top.

• In a corner : an armchair or rocker, meant for sitting rather than eating.

Upholstery decides upkeep

Across the ranges, the covering matters more than the frame.

• Velvet : texture and sheen, in the widest choice of colours.

• Bouclé : a looped weave that reads as texture rather than colour.

• PU : wiped clean with a cloth, which helps with children at the table.

• Plastic : no fabric at all, so there is nothing to stain.
